Our Chief Executive, James, and Veterinary Director, Kate, were invited to sit on an expert panel, chaired by none other than Jeremy Paxman, at the launch of the Battersea Academy this week. Joining them on the panel were vet and author, Bruce Fogle, who is also Chair of the international charity ‘Humane Society International’, and Geeta Seshamani, co-founder of Friendicoes, based in India.

The panel debated international animal welfare issues, ranging from the treatment of street dogs in India to puppy farming in Eastern Europe, with Jeremy's Battersea rescue dog, Derek, chipping in with his views!

We are very proud to have been part of the launch of the Battersea Academy - a centre for professional development that trains animal welfare practitioners from across the UK and around the world. Delivered by Battersea’s experts, Academy programmes are designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills they need to operate their own rescue and rehoming centres effectively and to the highest possible standards.
