Bumblebee Mix Seedballs

£2.99

Help local bumblebees thrive with our Bumblebee Seedballs — a small, gift-friendly box of ready-to-scatter wildflower seedballs specially selected to provide nectar and pollen for bumblebee species. Each box contains 6 seedballs (≈30 seeds per ball) made from a blend of native, bee-friendly wildflowers such as Cornflower, Red Campion, Oxeye Daisy, Wild Marjoram, Viper’s Bugloss, Red Clover and Birdsfoot Trefoil — a mix chosen to attract and feed a range of bumblebees across the season. These seedballs use a proven clay-and-compost casing to protect seeds until conditions are right, so they’re perfect for window boxes, pots, paving cracks and small patches of soil.

Why you’ll love them:

  • Designed for bumblebees: Contains species recommended for nectar and pollen.

  • Low effort: Scatter, leave ~10 cm between balls and let rain do the rest — no digging required.

  • Eco credentials: Made using peat-free compost and natural clay (many seedballs also include a pinch of natural chilli to deter pests while seedlings establish).

Seedball was founded by conservation scientists to make it easy for people to grow native wildflowers and support pollinators. Seedballs use UK-sourced wildflower seed, peat-free compost and recyclable/compostable packaging where possible, so your purchase helps both bumblebees and more sustainable gardening.

  • Emily & Ana are the creators of Seedball – they want to fill the world with wildflowers.

They are on a mission to help increase the abundance of British wildflowers and wildlife that depend upon them. They believe that if we can all better use whatever space we have available to us (whether a back garden, balcony, window box, little patio etc) together, we can have a hugely beneficial impact on our local ecosystems. The last 50 years has been witness to huge declines in pollinators and other garden wildlife, but together we can really really do something to reverse this.

  • What is a Seedball?

A ball made from seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chili powder.

    Why use Seedballs?

The ball prevents the seeds from being a tasty lunch for birds and insects, thereby increasing the chances of your flowers growing. Plus they’re super easy to use, no digging and no expert knowledge needed!

    What's in the box?

There are 6 balls in each box, and around 30 seeds per ball.

    How do I use Seedballs?

Throw onto soil or compost in a garden bed or planter in Spring or Autumn, leaving at least 10cm between each ball. Your Seedball has everything it needs to grow and, once the ball becomes moist and the temperature is right, your seeds will germinate!

What area will my Seedballs cover?

We would usually advise 20 seed balls per square metre, or 3-5 seed balls for a 35cm container.

    Conservation

All seed is responsibly sourced in the UK from Flora Locale accredited suppliers, and only ever use peat-free compost.
